Zucchini Inspired
What the hail didn't kill, the early fall chill might. Hopefully this little zucchini will amount to something yet. It looks rather insignificant compared to those I saw at the Welland Farmer's Market this past Saturday. Laughable in fact. In the zucchini's defense, the season hasn't been cooperative. Three horrid hail storms, late wet spring, limited sunshine and some of the poorest soil in the world have stunted its growth. A less hardier plant might have just shrivelled up long ago. Still it blossoms. Still it carries on trying to produce something substantive for the harvest. I am inspired and instructed by a zucchini plant.
