Lunch Money

As I watched a newsclip covering the recent Black Friday shopping madness, I felt just sick to my stomach. Now don't get me wrong. I love to shop and love to find a good bargain even more. But there was something about this recent madness that just didn't sit right. Maybe the ideas expressed today on CBC's Tapestry resonated a certain truth on our injunction as believers to try as best we can to even out the inequality we see around us. Maybe I wanted to believe I would never be capable of trampling on someone to get the last dish at Anthropologie. Whatever it was, I felt like I wanted to just bypass the whole holiday excessess. So when I read Whitney Johnson's latest post, it seemed like a good start to create a happier more enjoyable yuletide season. For the price of a few lattes or lunch or a movie and popcorn, or an ornament that Aunt Gertrude doesn't need, you can contribute to Rachel Cook's dream: The Microlending Film Project - Saving the World's Women. I encourage you to contribute. I'm pretty sure you won't lose any sleep wondering if they are going to like what you bought them.
