WW

If I had a $100 for every diet plan I started or product purchased promising thin in a bottle, I would be able to buy a fur coat, a diamond ring or a lovely holiday somewhere warm. Today I went back to WW. I'm a lifetime member. Jennifer Hudson is on every magazine cover and talk show toasting her success with the program. I figure if she can do it, so can I.

WW has changed so much over the years. I remember putting sucarol on my Shreddies the very first time I joined. I think that lasted about 20 hours. Many years later, when I earned my lifetime membership, I never deviated from that slide rule program. I tracked. I drank all the water. Today I learned about the new Points Plus program. WW makes sense. They want you to learn skills to last the rest of your life. They assure me that I can reach my goals and still eat the cake. It's all about portion and choices.

Used to be Mother worried for years about her weight. She ballooned up quite a bit in her early 60s. She doesn't ever talk about a diet now. She halves everything she eats because "they give me so much food". She snacks on Cheesies and wafer cookies each day. She's happy how she looks. I guess it takes until you're 84 to embrace yourself in that way. I've something to look forward to but just now I have to add up all my points and see if I can eat anything else before bedtime.

I'm a lifetime member too, but I've given it up for the OPTIFAST diet which is a protein drink. Three drinks (or bars) a day and one meal. You have to go through a nutritionist to do it. (I don't know if they have it in Canada). I have to say, though, that WW taught me how to eat. And I remember when they had us eating loads of tuna fish.
