Having a Cuppa

After yoga today my friend JS and I enjoyed a long visit over some roboois tea and for her some java. J always has an interesting perspective, a book or idea to share, a recipe. There isn't a topic that stumps her. She is well read, well travelled, balanced. I left yoga feeling pretty amazing already but left that conversation with a listful of things I want to read, try, mull over. Friends like J fill my cup to overflowing.

I remember growing up Used to Be Mother and her friend Jessie would have coffee together on the one afternoon she had off. Between batches of bread, laundry, cleaning, UTBM would stop it all when Jessie dropped by. I'd hear them gossiping, sharing, enjoying the simply pleasure of being with each other. They solved all the world's problems and felt like their burdens were somehow lighter after their little visit. UTBM always hummed after those visits.

She doesn't hum anymore. Maybe it's time to reintroduce a little tea party.

You make me blush!
I feel sad for UTBM and all the others who don't have their 'coffee klatsch' neighbors anymore. My Mom - age 88 - has a neighbor who has dropped in 2-3 mornings a week for 15-20 minutes for the last 45 years. Mom can't walk down the alley any more to return the visit so B just comes to my Mom's house more often.
Lets find ways to keep seeing our friends until we are very old.
