Waning Summer

The other night when I came out of the movies with Rax, a cool breeze hurried us to the car to put on the heater. It's been a glorious summer but the yellowing leaves on the trees, the near freezing evening temperatures announce that autumn arrives imminently. It's such a short season here in Alberta. Thankfully it was celebrated and enjoyed in these ways:

1) fireworks at the farm
2) dirt biking
3) making fresh strawberry jam
4) walks in the woods
5) canoeing the reservoir
6) swimming and sunbathing (though the later is a mystery why someone of my larding bottom would want to expose herself in that way)
7) eating fresh berries, peaches, cucumbers, tomatoes and corn
8) sharing bouquets of sweet peas from my garden
9) picnics - I've eaten more hot dogs this summer than I had in the last ten years
10) road trips - 5
11) bike rides in the park
12) grilled vegetables, chicken, fruit
13) making a dint in the pile of books by my bedside
14) further to 13, I read the NT this summer. Oh Paul! You woman hater.
15) star gazing
16) eating ice cream with the kids at my favourite ice cream parlour
17) hiking up Fullerton Loop

Today I plan to cycle in Fish Creek. Eat some ice cream. Catch a movie.

I'm catching up. I'm glad I live a little further south. Having the leaves change this early would shock me, although your list shines.
