Day Eleven Paris
The twenty minute walk to the Paris Ward took us past the hotel de ville and the Ile De Cite. An island amid an island if you will. It was ward conference and we enjoyed singing the cantiques and hearing the discourses. This diverse and Multi-ethnic ward has members from China, Africa, England, USA and France. The bishop said there were 608 people on the church's records and 23 of them are new since he was called 11 months ago to be the Bishop, a little family of five sat in front of us who are here for a six month internship. The mom doesn't understand French; her baby doesn't understand quiet. I felt for her but hoped she would look back at this experience with fondness and acknowledged growth.
After lunch mon chum and I took our books and headed to Luxembourg gardens where we spent such an agreeable afternoon people watching, cat napping and reading. All of Paris seems to be outside and they have she'd their coats and boots for light sweaters though many were carrying even these by mid afternoon when the temperature went past 24 C. For those at home in Alberta still shoveling snow, I'm glad it's you and not me.
I think I dozed off only to be awakened by a big wet, brown splat at over my book and clothes. Some bird will boast his bull's eye tonight. Some onlookers offered me some tissues which I wanted to stuff down min chum's throat as he laughed himself sick. We went to the Vivladi concert a quatre pattes where two brothers played on the Steinway piano. We were youngsters compared to the crowd there. I watched as the woman in front of me sketched themknave of the church, the icons, the performers. Others moved their heads this way and that in appreciation for the music. No Bic lighters.
Tomorrow we are going to check out Angelina's, Berhillon's, Places des Vosges.
