This Hike Needed a Reward

This is the reward for hiking Alta Pass at South Mountain in Phoenix. I needed a reward. A fellow hiker cautioned us about the rattlesnakes. I asked if he were kidding. He didn't look like the kidding type but still who says that to two women who definitely are not rattlesnake lovers? After a kilometre I had to go on the deserted highway. The disquiet made every branch and hole look like the perfect snake. My friend TP reassures me they stay off the path. Good to know. Still, I'm going to wait until it grows cooler before I hike up there again. Hibernating snakes sound way more appealing than sunning on the rock.
