Seventy Minus a Dozen

Yesterday en route home from a basketball game, it occurred to me that this part of my life was coming to an abrupt end. For the last 15 years, our boys' participation have filled our lives with basketball practises, tournaments, fund raisers, and games and associations with other parents we wouldn't normally meet or know.

Oh how I have loved cheering from the sides even when I didn't know what I was cheering. "Press him, press him" still elicits their laughter and just a little sneering. B and I were their number one fans. We seldom ever missed a game. But now it's over.

As I was mulling that over and considering what next in my life, it occurred to me that in twelve years, I would be 70. Seriously 70!

With that cheery thought, and the end of our basketball fan era, I am now focusing on what is ahead. I'm going to chronicle it here. The clock's ticking.

Are we really that old? I think you may have the math wrong. Isn't it 12 years until 60?
