Today I was in the dressing room with Used to be Mother while she tried on some new tops and pants. I couldn't help but notice my mother's underwear. Oh my! The bra she wore probably fit several decades ago. She proudly told me that it was over 20 years old. I'd never guess! I could and I confess did fit my fist into the empty space in her bra to demonstrate to her that this simply wasn't working properly. The girls were no where in sight! And the elastic around the top of her briefs didn't look much better. How they stayed up still puzzles me.
When I asked her why she wasn't wearing the new underwear we had purchased last week, she said "Oh I'm saving them."
For what?
She said: "To wear to church tomorrow."
I envision the girls all perky and filling in the proper spaces and the new Jockey briefs enjoying the mass as much as Used to Be Mother will. All cups will be running over!

Oh...My... Goodness!!!! I can TOTALLY relate, as my Mother did the same. A different generation for sure. I bought her loads of new "lingerie" and frankly, it was never worn. I have always taught my girls to have nice underwear and am thinking that is exactly what MY Mother always taught me!
What happened??.....CH
What a wonderful example of how to approach the new, and continually changing, relationship with your mother. Your sense of humor for what otherwise could be sad or stressful is so much more healthy.
