World Changed

Though the mirror doesn't reflect any difference in my appearance, I'm not the same. I've spent the last five days participating at a writing conference. Mingling with some very bright, funny classmates, being guided by the thoughtful and head standing instructor, Sharlee Glenn, and learning from some even brighter, funnier, and wiser authors (Kathleen Deuy, Ann Cannon, Claudia Mills, and Louise Plummer) who have pushed out the crinkles in my brain. Expansion was long overdue. They've suggested a list of books to read. I've been given a long list of prompts to hone this craft which I hope some day will be my art. What's changed most is the belief that I AM A WRITER.

Though the conference exceeded all my expectations, there were some misses. The closing exercises were flat, and anti-climatic and the lip sync was  painful viewing. What were they saying? What was their point? And why the dark hoods? For those who won free books or even better, sessions with a editor, they were all thrilled.

I'm all aglow. Enthused. Inspired. Focused. I hope I'm not the one with lovely hazel eyes (see comments from Louise Plummer on the WIFYR website).

It sounds like you had the most wonderful week - I feel confident that although you have lovely hazel eyes, YOU are not of whom Louise is speaking!! love you lots - K

I think we all know that you are NOT just another pretty face. So glad you enjoyed your week - I am getting restless - I too need to DO something!

Wow! I'm dying to hear all about it. And I've always known you are a writer, so I'm glad you do now too.
