The Christmas dress tradition started in 1982. I didn't have a clue what I was doing at first. The dress held together for the party but she grew out of it by the next wash. (Judging from the icing on the face, the party was a huge success.) My skills improved over the next ten years to tackle piping, inset zippers and lace. And lots of gathers. The tradition extended to include Easter dresses. I haven't made a Christmas or Easter dress since puberty came and they discovered GAP Kids.
I had a lot of satisfaction and creative expression making those dresses.

I love mothers who sew. Mine sewed for me. I'm sorry to say that the sewing gene passed me by. I love all these photos.
MLP is me. She had used my computer.
We will listen to NPR, of course.
