Resolutionary Challenge 2012

For the last three years, I have participated in a Resolutionary Challenge which for 12 weeks focused on communal goals with other participants. Goals in the past included drinking lots of water, exercising, savoring a small treat each day or cleaning up your home. I don't know about you but I still struggle with water consumption,  my weight is pretty much the same as it was 3 years ago and the drawers are messy again - or still. The trouble with New Year's resolutions is they don't often become life changing or permanent. Yet the Resolutionary Challenge has helped participants to connect and support one another, to achieve some control and structure and to acknowledge that important behaviours were being disciplined and tasks accomplished. With that in mind, this is your invitation to participate in the Fourth Annual Resolutionary Challenge.

1. Start date is Monday, January 16th; we'll go for 12 weeks, and end on April 9th, 2012.
2. Registration fee of $30 CDN into the Resolutionary Challenge Fund by January 15, 2012.
3. A maximum of 5 points can be earned daily, 35 points weekly, 420 for the 12 weeks.
4. Beginning January 16th, record your points in an online spreadsheet to be circulated by Jan 15, 2012. By registering for the challenge, this will allow you access to the discussion group and online spreadsheet where you can keep track of your progress and see how others are doing.
5. There are three categories of winners:

Most points: 60% of the cash in the Challenge Fund will be for the highest scoring resolutionary (in the event of a tie, the top participants will split top prize).

Weekly winners: To keep us motivated and reward small victories along the way, 10% of the Challenge Fund will be allocated for interim prizes. These rewards will occur approximately Week 3, 6, and 9.

Finishers: The Resolutionary Challenge is partly about getting the most points, but mostly about process. Each participant who has an average of 80% points or better per week and finishes the entire 12 weeks will be eligible for a random draw for 15% of the Challenge Fund.

The remaining 15% will be donated to kiva.org under Resolutionary Challenge 2012.

6. Points are earned for the following activities:

1. For 30 minutes each day - Develop a new talent or interest  OR Learn or practise a different language OR Practise/learn a musical instrument or Write/blog/journal OR Paint OR Sketch

2. Exercise 60 minutes each day- this does not have to be done all at one time - you could walk in the morning for 20 , run in the afternoon for 20 , cycle for 20.

3. Finish eating by 9 p.m. each day

4. Goal of your choiceit may be to make your bed or be ready to show yourself to the world by 11 a.m. or spend less or save more or be happier. It must be different from these other four goals. You can change this goal every week if you like.

5. Wild Card this goal will change each week. It will include some online participation though not each week and not every day as in the past.

If you are, click on this PayPal button and pay the entry fee; it's going to show up as $30. If you don't want to open a PayPal account, let me know -- we'll figure out an alternative arrangement. On the left hand side of my blog, the pay pal link is active and ready for your payment.
