Mary Mary Quite Contrary
Growing up in my family, you didn't escape gardening especially weeding. It was just plan nasty work and I didn't appreciate the culminating harvest each year. Now I have a garden of my own. Yesterday I spent the better part of the day weeding, amending soil and preparing the garden boxes and pots. Gardening in Calgary with its shortened season threatened by snow and frost, and the onslaught of mosquitoes makes this more extreme sport. Luckily I appreciate the harvest now. I figure after all is said and done - and trust me there is always more done than said in a garden - my lovely bowlful of beets costs about $10/beet. It's time to rethink this model.

But isn't it gratifying literally seeing the fruits of your labor?!
Even if it's not monetarily the best investment - if it brings you joy - then that is the greatest profit!
I am concentrating on basic tasks - dig out 20 large dandelions per day. I should be done in 2017.
