I organised a group of empty nester couples to meet once a week for a religious discussion, activity, service project, potluck, whatever. All of us used to hold regular family home evenings each Monday night with about the same hit and miss success. We sing a hymn, have a lesson and refreshments. It's a pleasant way to spend a winter's evening.
I'm an instigator. I started a book club a dozen years ago. I organise outings and activities on a regular basis. I'm always just a little surprised that people say yes. I've heard so many people say that they would like to do such and such but don't. I've wondered why that is.
What's your experience with instigating? With accepting? Do you like it? Do you wish people like me would leave you alone?

I am so not an instigator and I'm getting worse. I know I would go to a movie by myself rather than call someone to go with me. So much PLANNING.
I have a good social life, so I obviously say yes to instigators. We Yins need our Yangs, or vice versa.
