Pup Interviewing for Medical School

One of the blessings of being a helicopter mother is that you can take road trips with your adult son so that you can pay for the food, the hotel and navigate the streets of your former stomping grounds. Since Pup had surgery on his hand, we have made this trip five times. During those three hours of captivity we talk about ideas, gossip about people and usually Pup has a short nap for which he always apologizes. (There's only so much talk a man can take.)

Yesterday we came for a better reason than seeing the surgeon. Pup has an interview today with the University for early admission to medical school. One way he prepared for this event was watching Bill Connolley's vimeo Colonoscopy. (WARNING - OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE) but very funny stuff.  He also had some help from a recent U of A medical school graduate on some scenarios. The multiple person interview will last two four hours. A scenario (ethical, professional, personal) will be presented to each candidate who has a few minutes to prepare response before entering into the room for timed interview. The cumulative score from the 5-8 interviewers will determine entry into the faculty.

Dressed in his Harry Rosen suit and leather shoes, nervous, confident and determined, he looked so mature and polished as opposed to his wearing his chewed up Roots sweats and basketball hoodie the night before.

May they will annouce the success candidates of today's interview.

Until then, I can look forward to three hours of captivity later today to return home.

I remember going through this with Dr. Laura. I also remember crying tears of pride when she went off in the taxi to that first interview! So very overwhelming and a wonderful experience.. Enjoy and savour every moment. ......Cathy xo
