Day Eight Paris

With our two travelling companions heading for home,EBH and I moved to a smaller apartment in the Latin Quarter near the Pantheon and Notre Dame.  The market maubert is just a stone throw away where we can buy fresh bread, vegetables, fruits, cheese and fish. The clerks there are very generous with their grammar lessons and I'm learning a whole new vocabulary I did not know in Quebec.

We ran some errands and then walked the neighborhood to become familiar with everything.  It rained most of the day and we were glad to find a lovely restaurant Beaupaire just down the street wih a lovely ambiance and delicious food.  I was rather surprised to discover my fish of the day came with head, fins and tail. Its rather unsettling for the appetite to eat fish this way and I suspect if I had to look a cow or chicken in the face each time I ate I might be inclined to take up plant based eating more seriously. This area is full of students from the Sorbonne and they make lively noise in the street.

Yesterday we made our way on the metro to the shopping store Printemps which is just outside the Galleries Lafayette but is not as crazy with shoppers though equally beautiful in what they offer.  We lunched in the  beautiful domed restaurant at the top of the store where we were served a delicious pea soup. The metro is not user friendly like London but it does become easier with use.  This mode of transportatiin has helped calm down my knee a bit and im felling much less gimpy. After a deliciius sharwama at the local Al Dar restaurant we attended Chopin recital in the Saint Severin church.  I thought how this crowd knew their classical music as they did not clap between suites as I might've have been tempted  have been to to do.  The French are not generous with their standing ovations like they are in Canada and I noticed that the crowd was seasoned and refined. the only piece I recognized was from a bugs bunny cartoon. What does this say about me?

Another delicious lemin tart and an evening of friendly conversation.  Bob arrives tomorrowand I can hardly wait.
