My oldest sister SAH and I are spending a week together in Arizona "rebooting our solar panels" as my sister calls it. We spent the day in our bathing suits outside by the pool reading books and taking snack breaks.
My sister is without guile and pretension. She is a good sport. Today I turned on the Wii and we did a cardio kickboxing. We agreed our wild gestures burned way more calories than what the program listed.
We played Head's Up (an app) and couldn't breathe at times because we were laughing so hard at her inability to guess my buck teeth and finger crooked at my backside was a gopher. We shared secrets from our youth in Saskatchewan.
We don't have to explain much to each other. We are different too. She likes a simple life. I've always wanted more. She hates conflict; I'm a scrapper. We don't always agree but we have found a way to co-exist and respect each other's point of view.
She smokes which drives me to distraction. I insist on putting on lipstick before we take a picture which drives her mad. We both have creeping skin we try to hide.
What do you like best about your relationship with your sister?

i LOVE this post! it actually reminded of me and my sister. we are SO SO very different in many ways, but we just get each other and we just sit and reminisce and laugh about old times and we are the best of friends.
It's that shared past and DNA that binds us. My sisters and I share the same laugh, the same humor, the same anxieties, the same love for the color red. We may even wear the same lipstick shade.
I am glad you have a sister that you don't have to explain things to. That is a gift. That is like an oasis.
That is so healthy.
